Rehman helped Kent secure its first ever specialist Mother and Baby Unit, which helps new mothers in Gillingham and Rainham to access mental health support. The first unit of its kind in the South East, the unit was the successful outcome of Rehman's campaign also supported by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Centre for Mental Health. With up to 20% of women affected by mental health issues during pregnancy, or within a year of having a baby. Rehman was delighted that his Private Member's Bill resulted in the Government investing £365million by 2020/21 for mental health support, and new mothers, including more beds in mother and baby units.
