Rehman raised with the Prime Minister that the Taliban in Afghanistan claim that they will rule within Islam. Rehman suggested to the Prime Minister that he ask the 57-member state Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to ask Al-Azhar, the leading and widely regarded institution on Islamic thought, to set out what Islam means for religious minorities and women, and allow the world to judge the Taliban on whether their actions are in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
