Local MP Rehman Chishti presented staff at Gillingham Station with a safety award.
The station operators have been recognised for their work in reducing crime and presenting a clean and welcoming environment for passengers.
They have been awarded Secure Station Accreditation by the Department for Transport. This is given to stations that also demonstrate, through an independently conducted survey, that passengers feel safer when using the station.
Safety measures at the station include CCTV and high quality lighting as well as ensuring it is free from graffiti.
Rehman said: "It is great news that Gillingham Station has been recognised for its safety by the Government. Over the last few years Gillingham Station has been vastly improved with easier access and better passenger facilities, and this award recognises the hard work of the staff to make our train journeys safer."
